Maztec –What’s the D N B scene like in Rome / Italy?
Drum&Bass scene in Italy has grown up more and more during the last 2-3 years, we have many parties each week and people is still loving this music, concerning the Rome scene currently it is a little slow becouse since 1 or 2 years ago there were many crews promoting Drum & Bass parties, Subculture Recordings was one of them and right now we are busy with productions, as djs and some of us with family so there are many many Electro parties and few Dubstep and drum & bass ones but we will be back to promote soon.
2.I hear Maztek has just signed to Renegade Hardware. When’s your first release coming out with them?
I do not know exactly because the track will be released on Renegade is a collab i made with Optiv C4C and will be part of his new album on the label, therefore i’m looking forward to seeing it come out.
3.A / D / M -Who would be your dream artist to collaborate with?
Aeph – Wolfgang Gartner and Kavinsky. A musical gangbang would be great.
Dabs- I’m lucky to collaborate with a bunch of artists which I like best and share same idead of style/vibes into the dnb camp. Names I can tell are definately Cern, Optiv, Mayhem, June Miller, Future Signal, aswell as my buddies Aeph and Maztek.
Maztec – First of all Noisia then i’d like to collaborate with Black sun Empire, Upbeats, Audio, Blokhe4d, Phace and all the producers i like more
4.Maztec –What’s the best life lesson you have learned in the music industry?
Well i think it is to always make music for themselves and not follow trends just to be on a label because I believe that when it comes time for recognition it is greater and more rewarding to force himself to be what others want to hear, I know this is dance music, but it is always music, and then expresses a part of us. At the same time I think you should stay current with new styles of music and with what the people want without leaving your personal style.
5.What’s coming up in the near future for all of you?
Aeph – Couple of my tracks are gonna be out on the next Bad Taste Recordings album. Some gigs in Uk and around europe as well. Than maybe a spacetrip to another universe with a Long Island on my right hand but I need to send a couple of emails before.
Dabs- Too many things on the pipeline, first of all a really well expected 12” (my second with them) on Dispatch with Cern & Safire, which gonna hit the store march the 21st. Then the tune ‘Blackmore’ in collaboration with the -Atlanta based- star Mayhem will come out on a 12” on the Luxembourg imprint Full Force, another double side 12” on the Bulletproof’s label Cyanide, based in New Zealand. Recently did an official remix of one of the tracks of the Subsonica new LP (well recognized italian band). Plus more unscheduled material and remixes to be released on Dispatch, Citrus etc.. and a few dates as a dj around Italy and Europe.
Maztec- I’m making many collaborations with producers all around the globe, i finished a remix of a Foreign Beggars tune featuring Intiman called “Hit That”, this will be on my next sinle on Subculture recordings here is the video(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTqO_4hy8Qs), then i made a tune with Optiv from C4C called “quarks” and it is forthcoming Renegade Hardware. I’m working on my new Subculture Album as well and it will be a 12 tunes album with some Dnb, dubstep and electro as well.
I’m working on some collabs with Aeph And Fourward and Dabs too and i have just finished my double 12” for Icarus Audio in which there will be my tune with Grotesque “Staright To Bad” which has been remixed by Audio. Concerning the italian stuffs i just finished a remix for Subsonic wich is a really famous band in Italy and i’m working on some hip hop beats.
